chick gasping and wheezing

Since they are so small maybe you should just give them the tetracycline in the water for now. I have a packet of Duramycin10 (tetracycline) and it does not say how old the chicken has to be to be treated. That might be safer (or give the LS 50) if you can find it.
They were on Duramycin for 2 weeks without it helping the sickest one. It cured most of the others (some are still sneezy) but she continued to gasp and wheeze for the two weeks.

Well that's frustrating. I shouldn't risk it at all? I guess I can return the Tylan tomorrow, but I'd just hate to have her go another night without help.

I'll see if I can return the Tylan injectable for the powder.

I understand. They'll kill you on the Tylan powder in the feed stores. I've seen it as high as $75 a bottle in stores. LS-50 is common and would recommend that, plus it costs about half of what they'll charge you for Tylan powder.. It is very effective against respiratory diseases since tetracyclines have been used so much. If you are stuck getting a tetracycline powder, make sure you add an ounce of Ocean Spray cranberry juice to each quart of treated water. Birds don't absorb tetracycline drugs very well, but vitamin c helps with the absorption of "cycline" antibiotics. It also makes the water more palatable to the bird since tetracycline is bitter.

I have noticed that my local feed stores are starting to carry a smaller container of Tylan powder lately. The big ones are a fortune.

I lost her ): I don't know why the infection got her so much worse than the other chicks, but it really messed with her. She hadn't grown in size at all since the day she hatched and by the end every breath was a mouth wide open gasp. I wonder if she just had something wrong with her to begin with, and the cold aggravated it. I did get a lot of runts in the group.

At least the other chicks are growing large and strong, not a sneeze left in the group. I'd like to replace her since she was my only dark brahma, but I've never seen dark brahmas sold anywhere around me. Dangit.

I am sorry for your loss.
