Chick gender and breed

Hey all, I was given this chick as a day old from my child's class. They grow chicks every year and I am stumped on whether it is a cockerel or pullet. It was born Feb. 24th. It has the sweetest temperament. Any advice would be appreciated.

Cockerel. As sourland said, mixed breed. Possibly mixed with a black copper marans

Very well developed for 8 1/2 weeks old. He's a lovely cockerel.

Thanks! I have another chick I’m guessing is a Cochin bantam but could be wrong and I don’t know how to tell the males and females apart.

It, too, appears to be a cockerel, and may be a Cochin.

Realistically when chicks are sourced as you did roughly 50 % will be cockerels.
