Chick Gender

Hello! I have a six week old barred rock chicken and was wondering what gender it was. Supposed to be female but shouldn’t be an issue if it was a male.

Males usually have larger combs than females, and for Barred Rocks the males tend to have more white than females--but I have a hard time telling which is which unless they're side-by-side or unless it's really blatant.

Sorry, I don't really know about your chick. Maybe someone else will chime in with an opinion.

I think that is a female. A male would have a bigger and redder comb by six weeks.

Looks like a pullet to me though not 100%. Ive just hatched a barred rock x silkie chick and we believe it’s a he as his comb is very defined though not a problem as we will keep him either way.
