How do I give my chicks grit?
Do I mix it into there feed?
Do I put it into a separate dish and they will just eat it?
Not sure what to do.

You could use plain play sand (clean). And mix some in with their regular feed. Instead of shavings, I used clean dirt with no fertilizer for their bedding, it already has gritty material in it for the chicks to eat when they peck at it.

Hope this helped

Most people put their chick grit into a separate dish, which the chicks will take from when they need it. If it goes in with the feed sometimes they won't notice it and won't eat it.

However you can also take them outside every day to forage, and they will pick up their own grit from the ground.

I mix mine right in their food so it's all mixed thru and also sprinkle a little over the chips on the brooder floor. They like to dig thru the chips for spilled feed & the grit. Gives them something to keep them occupied. I also deliberately dump a small amount of feed over the chips to encourage them to dig. Helps keep the poop turned down into the chips & the smell down so I don't have to change out litter so often.

Great idea, I'm going to try that.

I have a spot in their run that I keep grit and oyster shell at, whenever it gets low I throw more on.

Whenever you want to feed them anything other than chick crumbles, in general. There are probably a few treats you can give them that are easy to digest otherwise, like maybe plain yogurt, but that is the rule we were told.
