Chick has deformed foot/toes. Help!

Sadly, she didn't make it. :'( I think there was something else wrong besides her messed up feet. She was weak since birth and for the last 24 hours she has barely been able to stand up. The last few hours she was almost lifeless and as I just went to feed her I dipped her beak and she starting foaming bubbles and then passed away right in my hands. After I had my little cry I took her booties off to bury her and the sad part was that her toes were already corrected. Maybe I should have fed her less or handled her less or taken the booties off sooner but I just think maybe she wasn't fully developed and just very weak. Either way, it's heartbreaking but I thank you everyone for your help. Luckily I still have 11 beautiful babies to love.

I'm so sorry she didn't make it. Chances are there's nothing you could have done and you can't second guess yourself. You did an excellent job getting the booty made and on her, (now you know what to do if you ever need to again), you got the electrolytes, you did exactly what you could do. We like to play God, but we aren't. Just know that you did a good job in your efforts.

Thanks, Amy. You're right, I did everything I could and I think she was just too weak. This helps though. I am grateful I still got 11 babies who all are doing well. My chick that died during hatching will have a friend on the rainbow bridge now. Thanks again for all your help and support!

Congrats one the other 11, that is a great hatch.

That is very good info. I have a chick with 3 feet one leg has 2 feet there are 8 toes one of the feet is curled under the other and does not seem to bother her she is getting around with the other chicks. So far no problems. Hoping she does not develop any
