Hey there! So its my first time raising back yard chickens they are now three weeks old. The other day I went out to the brooder and they usually all run from me but there was one who didn't, I pulled him out and noticed she holds her head to side and can't fully extend it. When I found her she wasn't able to eat and drink on her own so I separated her and hand feed and gave her water. She is smaller then the other birds likely because I didn't notice her not being able to eat and drink on her own. I have the all on water vitamins and electrolytes now. She is now able to eat and drink on her own and keep her head up but the bump is still there and still can't fully extend her neck... she also has regular normal bowel moments... any idea what this might be?? Thanks!

Can you post a pic? IMO, electrolytes should not be used for more than a very short duration. I recommend that you pick up a bottle of poultry nutri drench and use that instead.

Thank you for your reply I will go get a pic of her now!! I went to all the feed stores around me even called the vets nobody has nutridrench :(

Can you put general location in your profile? It will help folks to give geographically appropriate advice!

Sorry yes just did that! Can you see the pics of her?

Looks like her crop to me. She may have wry neck. You can give her some vitamin E and Selenium. A drop of vitamin E from a gel cap, and a tiny bit of selenium shaved off the side of a tablet several times/day for a week. I'm not qualified to give medical advice, but this is what I'd do if she were in my care.

Okay thank you! Do you think I should keep her separate to make sure she's eating and drinking or would you leave her in with the others?
