Was outside working on the grow out coop (put in tile, added saftey hooks). Came in and saw one chick limping. Checked her out. This is what I found

Immediately cleaned with saline, put vetericyn plus on it, then Blu-Kote, then put a thin coat of Vaseline. Crushed a low dose asprin, mixed in a little water. Put it on her beak with dropper, she took a couple of drops. Will treat 2-3 times a day. After treating

She is eating and drinking and pooping like nothing is wrong. None of the others are bothering her.
Checked out what could have caused the injury. I think I found it. A tie wrap on the MHP, fixed that.
I feel terrible :hit

Edit: auto correct put veterinarian instead of vetericyn

Did you wash it first?
Good flush with saline.
Is it a puncture wound?
Make sure the other chicks are not pecking at it.

@Eggcessive and @Wyorp Rock no more about first aid that I.
Is there a good basic article out there?
Yes it was flushed out. No puncture, looked like skin tear. Put vetericyn plus on first, then blu-kote, then a thin coat of Vaseline.
Been watching other chicks not pecking at it. Of course the blu-Kote hid it pretty good. Will treat again in a couple of hours.

Maybe twice a day.....too often might be too much, let it heal.
Thank You, twice a day is probably best. Did second a little bit ago (bed time for them is soon). Oh did she put up a fuss. She is preening and kicking some sisters out of her way at the feeder.
To be on the safe side I put 4 drops of Nuti-drench in the pint waterer.
I was so upset and mad at myself for not seeing that tie wrap. I know accidents happen but still feel terrible.

Sounds like you've done a good job!
The only thing I would suggest is watch to make sure the other chicks don't take interest, seems like they aren't but sometimes it takes them a little while to "notice" things.

Don't beat yourself up, accidents do happen, you figured out the cause and have corrected it. Chickens heal remarkably well.

Thank You. Blu-Kote is hiding it well so far. I watched a lot this afternoon. Close enough I can watch from my chair. None noticed so far. But did see that she was keeping it out of sight of the others. She would either have it towards the wall or up next to another chick, so it was out of sight. Smart little one.
Thanks to all you that have helped others with injuries and I read. :bowI had got some of the things, still need to get the ointment (on grocery list). I am not one to panic, just go into medic mode. Barked orders to hubby. Get in the chicken first aide box, bring me the saline, vetericyn, blu-kote,Vaseline and some q-tips. He brought it over asked what was wrong. Showed him. He asked if she would be okay. Told him I don't know, but more than likely she will be as long as she eats and drinks. Drinking more than anything right now, she has to stay hydrated.
When I saw her eating and drinking I told him. Said she should be alright, just have to keep it doctored so infection doesn't set in and the others don't start pecking at it.
They are in bed now, hear a few squabbles now and then. Someone getting into someone else's area.
And Thank You for the kind words of not beating myself up. :hugs
