Hello all, i am new to chickens, we have 10 - 10 days old chicks, rhode island red, one has a weepy eye looks like it got pecked in the eye or rather something caught in it... i wiped with a warm rag.. any tips?? it is just clear fluid not alot...

You might have to create a little refuge in the brooder for that chick if it is pecked again...hoping not. You have done the right thing, and if you would feel more comfortable using Murine or a similar eye drop (no added antihistamines or painkiller additives) you can use the drops to flush the eye. How is she now?
Sometimes the tip of a new baby feather will grow towards an eye- so check for that. Of ten by dampening it and directing it away from the eye you can fix her.

k thanks for the info, yea i put her in a rabbit netting inside the brooder so she could see the others but seprated from them her eye looking much better but still slightly irratated...just been wiping it with rag 3x day... hope it gets better by the weekend! steph

Don't wipe it with a rag. Use contact lens solution on a soaked cotton ball and gently wipe. The contact lens solution is safe and does have some germ killing properties.
