I had one just the other day that pipped on the same day the others did but they all hatched. I waited 2 days before stepping in to help. It was only dry around the hole it made. I opened up the top and it just stayed in there all curled up and didn't even try to comeo ut just chirped like it couldn't move. So I gave it a little wiggle and squeeze. That usually gets them ti pop their head out. It did but took its sweet time. Then I noticed the blood the egg was sitting in. I hurried and got it out and stopped the bleeding. It was already detached from the cord inside when I got to that part. Don't know if I did it or not but I stopped the bleeding and it had a little protruding bottom also. I thought maybe I jumped in too soon and pulled the yolk off but after checking the egg there was no yolk.
It seemed to have had a stroke or somethng because when it did finally decide to get up it held its head to the side. I gave it a dose of poly vi sol and left it in the bator a little extra time to streghten up and before long it was joining its hatch mates. It's doing fine except it keeps one eye closed. Maybe blind on that side. Don't know.
I think with your little fella it may have pulled its cord too hard and it now has an outie instead of an innie. lol I figure if the bump don't go down, feathers will cover it and it won't be noticable at all. I've had them hatch with a bump there and it has always gone down soon after hatching but never as long as yours has..yet
If it wasn't for us worrying mommies and daddies these little chickies would be left with what nature would have intended for them. Pecked to death or deserted by their mothers. We do what we can to save them. I lost my previous hatch, all 3 died. The last one hung on for a week. I hand fed it and gave it water and washed it's little bottom. But it just wasn't meant to be. It broke my heart because they had a will to live but I couldn't save them.
