Chick hatched with a dried yolk out?

The dose I give is 20mg/kg once a day, but maybe giving 10mg/kg twice would be good, too. How much does it weigh? I take 0.2ml Baytril and mix with 0.8ml *distilled* water, that gives you 1ml with 20mg,

the math for a 60 gram chick using that dilution is:

.06 x 20 / 20 = 0.06ml once a day
or
.06 x 10 / 20 = 0.03ml twice a day

Please double check my math!

Your math is right, i will weight him now and give him the treat, but i don't have distilled water.

Quote: That's really hard...

60 gram chick - 0.06 x 20 / 20 = 0.012 ml

I did an experiment where I used a 22 gauge needle and the smallest drop of Baytril I could give was about 0.01, so it's possible, but not reliable. If I had no distilled water, it's what I would try to do. One tiny drop from a small needle should be all it needs.

I will do it tomorrow i need to go to bed now, i have 1ml needle, i will try to do it correctly.

And thanks again for your help.

How's the chick doing?

-Kathy
Thanks for asking, it's doing great so far, took him a 5 days to start walking normally, he has many leg issues beside this problem, but his legs are fine now, hoping he will pass these first three weeks, normally when mine hatch with a dry yolk like this they don't live longer than 3 weeks.
