We have been raising chickens for about 10 years. we have 30 adult birds. I was going to stop but with the quarantine, I thought we should get some more. We rushed to get chicks last weekend before our state, Washington, went to shelter in place. Everyone was getting them we got what we could. One died within two days. Now another is having seizures and acting disoriented. Do they have Marek’s? Is there anything I can do? Will the rest get it? I feel awful watching them suffer.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Can you post some photos of your brooder and the chicks?
What are you feeding?

Hard to know about the seizures, I would try getting some poultry vitamins that contain B1 and E. Poultry Cell or Poultry Nutri-Drench would be good. 2-3 drops twice a day.

Chicks that are a week or two old generally do not show symptoms of Marek's. It would take a good 3 weeks or more for them to become symptomatic. Usually signs of disease are not seen until around 12+ weeks, but it's not unheard of at a younger age.

Chicks that young can suffer from so many things - from shipping stress, development or genetic defects, failure to thrive and on it goes. The only way to get better info on the cause of death would be to have a necropsy through your state lab.

Thank you I also asked my local Facebook chicken group and they also suggested vitamins and minerals. I started adding save a chick to the water and the chick perked up!
