Are 4 week old chicks ok on their own at night? They were hatched by our broody hen, but she is starting to get aggressive with one of them. Can we put her back with the rest of the flock? Will the babies be warm enough?

Do you have a coop or someplace safe for them? As far as warmth, I put my chicks outside at 4 weeks. They have their own coop outside so that the older hens don't mess with them, as well as other predators. If you have a safe place for them, I'd say they'll be fine outside.

They do have their own coop. Mom is getting aggressive with one of they and she's walking around singing the egg song. I think she's ready to leave them.

Depends a whole lot on where you're located and what your nighttime low temperatures are.

I can say I'm in NJ and our lows are really only in the 50's at night and my 4-7 week old chicks are in the Coop, but still have their heat plate. Sometimes they don't use it, but the last couple nights have been damp from the rain and they've all been under there at lights out. So I think I'd be apt to give them a warmth source so they have it if they want it.

Edit to add: Somehow I missed a bunch of other replies to this and your note that they are in the house. Agree, they should be fine indoors in the brooder to pile up or cuddle together at night at 4 weeks.

If the chicks are in your house they will be fine at 3weeks.
