Are 4 week old chicks ok on their own at night? They were hatched by our broody hen, but she is starting to get aggressive with one of them. Can we put her back with the rest of the flock? Will the babies be warm enough?
They are inside. I meant will they be warm enough. No, it is not safe for chicks to be alone in the night, especially now when predators are coming from hibernation to get their meals.
Yes ma'am. They should just huddle together to keep warm. They are inside. I meant will they be warm enough.
They do have their own coop. Mom is getting aggressive with one of they and she's walking around singing the egg song. I think she's ready to leave them.Do you have a coop or someplace safe for them? As far as warmth, I put my chicks outside at 4 weeks. They have their own coop outside so that the older hens don't mess with them, as well as other predators. If you have a safe place for them, I'd say they'll be fine outside.
