If you decide to put a suture or two in there, make sure to wash it REALLY well before stitching. You don't want to close two dirty edges.

The friendly feed store pharmacists in Panama are excellent and well versed in everything offered in the store, whether it be feed, medications or everything inbetween. The rub is that you need to be able to describe the issue in Spanish, as it's a rare native Panamanian that speaks English well enough (or any other language other than Spanish), to be helpful in diagnosing and prescribing a treatment option. My grasp of the Spanish language is meh... mas o menos... so I just google what I need to say and write myself a note (in Spanish) to take to the store with me, to make it easier for them to help me help my animals.
