I know, I know she's too young . . .yada yada yada, but I just can't help myself. My chicks turned 3 weeks old on Monday and when I was looking at pictures and videos of my rowdy bunch I noticed some characteristics that might indicate breed, or at least narrow it down for one chick (yes my favorite). It would be really awesome if you can tell the gender too, but I won't press my luck. I already knew this chick had leg feathers, the thing I didn't realize (until I saw her legs compared to a different chick) is she has greenish legs. Does this mean she (hopefully SHE) will lay green eggs? I've read earlobes can indicate egg coloring, but I'm not sure about the legs.

Neither leg nor ear lobe color have anything to do with the color of the eggs the hen will lay.

That said, I'm thinking this particular chick is probably some type of 'egger' like Green Queen or olive egger. I don't think the chick is a pure breed but one of the many hatchery layer hybrids.

X2 on the leg and lobe color.

I am seeing salmon breast feathers coming in which means pullet. A roo of the same breeding would have a black breast.

Of the feather footed breeds (not the new hatchery specific breeds), the only one I can think of with the black vs salmon breast feathers is the faverole.....which has beard/muffs, 5 toes and does NOT have willow (the official term) legs. This leads me to think she's one of the hatchery specific breeds. When she starts laying, egg color will help determine what she is.

YOU SAID SHE :celebrate :clap:weeI won't hold you to it, don't worry. Honestly even if it's a Rooster I'm still keeping her, I'll move first, lol

With feathered legs, green toes, and the feather patterning - I think she's a Green Queen - which would mean yes, she will lay colored eggs. She is most likely a girl, because as mentioned above salmon chest feathers mean pullet most of the time.

I see Green Queen's have muffs/beards do those develop later? She was fluffier than the other chicks but has smoothed out in the last week or so.
