Chick just hatched...what is THIS? UPDATE and ? page 2

So I found out what happened.

One of the eggs hatched, and DD and DH were all excited and decided to help this one. They didn't know better, but I guess now they do, right? We still have 9 eggs that haven't hatched, but there are several star pips.

Anyway, she's doing okay. She had a hard time getting up and walking around at first, but now she is as best she can. The sac is much smaller now and my bator is a mess! And the other chick that hatched is pecking at the mass of yucky stuff. Should I take the healthy chick out?

it needs to be separated asap if you want it to have a chance

Leave the sick chick in the incubator. The air needs to me very moist for the chick to absorb the rest of the sac, and have a chance.

take the ones that hatch out, put them under a heat lamp to dry (in a warm place) How big is the yolk now ??? Could you post an updated pic ????

Here's the updated pic. She's peeping like crazy.

I guess I should tell you that I'm a first timer.

It looks like the yolk sac has burst open. If that is the case, then she will most likely die.

If you can, I would give her some vitamins and electrolytes.

Also, dont keep opening the incubator up. It decreases the humidity and the other hatching chicks could get stuck in their shell from their membrane drying up.

Looks much smaller than the first pic !!!! Does it look like shes absorbing the sac ??? Has she tryed to walk at all ??
