We just got four chicks a little over a week ago. Our speckled sussex started lying down a lot a couple days ago. She'll even lay down while eating and drinking. She gets up fine if I reach in the box and she's eating and drinking she just seems to lie down any chance she can get. She's also quietly chirping most of the time. She's not panting and spends time all around the brooder so I don't think it's temperature. She is a little smaller than the others and the EE have gotten a bit more aggressive. Any thought what could be up?

I had some of my chicks going through this but they all stopped in a few days. She may just be going through a growth spurt and using a lot of energy. Try giving her electrolytes like gatorade or even just putting sugar in the water to help replenish energy.

Welcome To BYC

Can she walk o.k.? Any splay or spraddle leg?

I would give her poultry vitamins like Poultry Nutri-Drench or Poultry Cell - direct oral dose of 2-3 drops twice a day.
See that she's drinking and eating well.
She may just be runty and will catch up, but some chicks also fail to thrive. Do the best you can.
