Chick Leg Bandette Concerns

In a class I was taking, everyone in the class received a day old Rhode Island Red to learn about animal behavior. On each one, a leg bandette was placed around their leg. Now that the assignment is over I have six Rhode Island Reds with these leg bands. They are about 2-3 weeks old and I'm concerned whether I should remove the leg bands or not. They aren't bothered by them now, but I'm looking towards the future.

I remove legbands I had bird get caught on something by his leg and the the band basically took the skin off his leg down to the bone
