Hello all ---
I have a question about a chick that my family hatched out last week. This is the second time that we hatched our own chicks out, and everything went smoothly (didn't get as many as we'd hoped, but that's another story). Anyhow, after the first day, it was clear that one of the chicks had a leg problem. She could not extend one of her legs properly and ended up hobbling around on one leg. I felt sorry for the little thing, but she seemed healthy enough otherwise. Today (chicks are six days old) however, the chick can now extend her leg, but she does not attempt to use it at all, she ends up sticking it out straight and kind of dragging it behind. She is also making distressed-sounding peeps.
Has anyone experienced this before? Is there anything I can do to help the chick out?
