my chick wont step on its right leg, and it sticks it way out to the side. there is nothing visibly wrong with it, but what can i do to help it. it is a silkie and it has feathered feet. if that matters.

I wish I had checked into your sight three weeks ago.
I have a chick who could have benefited from learning about spraddle legs/splayed legs.

Not sure what to do at this point.
chick is eating, growing, feathering out, hobbling about.

I am glad to learn about the condition and that it is easy to correct.

ninabriley - You don't say how old your chicks are now. I'm not sure but I think the spraddle leg treatment might still work on older chicks up to the point that they are finished growing. I'm sure it will be more difficult in older chicks because they are more active than younger ones. If you try it, it might help to isolate your chick for a day or two which would help decrease the activity level. You might want to search this site for spraddle legs/splayed legs in older chicks and see if you can find any cases where it was successful. Good luck!
