Chick limping

We have a RIR about a week and a half old who just started limping. She stands with her right leg out and runs by sort of hopping on her left foot and using the right for a bit of balance. She seems alert, follows her flock mates around, runs for food and water, but I'm worried.

I can't feel a break anywhere but am worried about a possible dislocation? Or is there something else that could cause this? Trying to get video, but she either just stands there or darts off too fast to see anything.

My 7 wk old Orpington is doing the exact same thing. Started about a week ago. Still eats, drinks and plays a little. She is not as active as she was and carries her leg funny...almost swings it while she hops and only relies on it for some balance. Can't find any sign of a break/wound/infection. If you have any luck diagnosing or if there is a change in her condition I would love to know. I'll let you know if I come up with anything. Good luck!

How are your chicks doing? Better, I hope.

I just posted a similar problem with my 3-week Brahma - holds right leg up, off to the side. Eats & drinks a bit, but isn't thriving like her mates. It's been like this for five or six days. I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to doctor her...or just let nature take its course.

I already have an eight-week old one-legged chick. I was hoping this batch would all walk on 2 legs!

Do you think this is "slipped tendon"?

Good luck with yours

Thought I'd post an update.

We never did anything other than watch her and put her back in with the chicks. (She had been running with older pullets, though not much older.) She's fine now, except that we think she may be a he.

I'm assuming it was just a strain or something but I'm quite happy it cleared up on its own!
