Chick mishap

Checked the eggs under the hen today. N. 4 is peeping inside, I'm going to leave it under the hen.

So that the past doesn't repeat its self.

Good luck! Chances are that she won't kill it. Did your other hen kill it on purpose, or was it an accident? I've heard of that happening, but it's never happened to me. All my broodies have been grat mothers. The only time I had chickens kill chicks was when I let my cuckoo marans brood in the coop. I think the other chickens treated them like mice. It was a gruesome scene when I found them.
I hope this one hatches, it will be a nice ending to the story. Is this the only one left?

Their are 13 other eggs, but no other showing activity yet.
Hopefully they all come threw.
The egg that is showing activity hasn't pipped threw but does peep once and awhile. ( when I check )

Been trying to get that question answered myself. I know they have at least 24 hours, I just don't know how much over that.

Okay

I suspect it to hatch tomorrow or tonight.

Chick hatched this morning.

The Mother gave it a few peeks ( which I tried to discourage ). I figured that taking the chick was a better idea after the mother completely stepped on it .

Any Advice would be nice

PS The breed of chicken that is brooding is Buff Brahma Bantam.
