So I have a coop that housed quails. Over the past few weeks i lost a couple of them and found that they were being dragged from underneath the coop.
Last weekend i bricked all thefloor so it would be impossible for the predator to dig through.
Thinking the coop was secure, i then placed my 3 chicks inside who are now 5 and a half weeks old. This morning I noticed one of them had a few missing feathers on its neck. Upon further inspection i noticed skin missing and a bloody neck. The wound was dry which led me to believe it could have happened at night.
I have since cleaned it with warm water and will be moving the chicks to a more secure place. However i was wondering what kind of animal/predator would be attacking them. I found no traces of digging from underneath the coop, so i am trying to figure out how it got inside.
By the way i am in the United Kingdom, I do not think we have racoons here, although we do have foxes which come out at night.
