I went through the same thing this year. this is a columbian wyandotte when I first noticed she wasn't "normal" at 3-4 weeks old
at 6 weeks, similar in age to your
This is a few weeks later after everyone else was looking like chickens...
this was at about 12-14 weeks and I was still pretty worried...
people were telling me she would feather out and was possibly a rooster. now at 17 weeks, she finally has feathers (except for her tail) and does not appear to be a roo. It just took her a LONG time to get any feathers
I had the same situation as above with a columbian wyandotte. Mine was still not feathered at 12 weeks, but as above, now at 17 weeks she's all feathered except she doesn't have much of a tail. She is still gangly, but no look of a roo. The roo I ordered was feathered just as fast as his hens, so the slow roo feathering did not work for me. The one that feathered late is still smaller than the rest. Hopefully your girl will catch up eventually.
I ordered from MPC and got a runt that is not feathering out either. She is half the size of the others and her fuzz is making her feathers come in all crazy and sticking out, like a bad hair day! I am afraid for her when I introduce them to my 4 big girls. They may pick on her crazy sticking out feathers and she is too small to defend herself. So I can't help but worry too. Here is a picture of Runty, the standard Partridge Cochin
Thanks for the posts, Cabot and Cindy, and the pictures Cabot!! If she's not feathered out in another 12 weeks then I'll get worried. I guess I just need to be patient and let her feather out at her own pace.
I certainly hope she's not a he, but with as many hens as I have it probably wouldn't be a bad thing to have another roo. That just means I'm down another Wellsummer pullet. Guess it'll be time to place another order of chicks...
btw I love your roosts, Cabot! And I bet your chicks do too.

My MPC Wyandottes are also taking forever to feather out! I have one GLW that is now 13 weeks old and still has only wings and head feathers no tail, back, crop and leg feathers at all and her wing feather curl out like a frizzle! my 6 week old GLWs from MPC are also taking forever.
ETA: She is very large and healthy though so I am not worried, I also read somewhere that they breed them to feather out slower so that the lacing is better, so hopefully she will be a beautiful bird when she is finally dressed!

I got mine from from Meyer, which is probably where yours came from too. I had a total of 20 Wyandottes (4 GLW & 16 Columbian) and only had a problem with 2 Columbians. One feathered by 8-9 weeks, but the other took forever. She is looking much better now, just missing the tail, but at 20 weeks she is much smaller.
i dont have a pic of him to post but my little mossy maran cockeral is approximately 10 weeks old and he still has his baby fuzz...he is the funniest looking chixn i have ever seen...lol
he is also considerably smaller than my 3 BCM that are only a week older and fully feathered....
Thought I'd post some updated pictures of my developmentally delayed chicken. I had originally thought s/she was a Wellsummer, but now that her adult feathers are coming in, I think she's a RIR instead. So it seems as though I got shorted a Wellie pullet rather than an RIR pullet like I'd originally thought. So much for my ability to ID baby chicks....
S/he's come a long way since a couple of weeks ago when I originally posted.
