OK, here's my last question of the night. My chick that was born yesterday, I removed from the incubator this morning. It had a glob of membranous goo glued to it's butt. I pretty large glob and it was rock hard. I removed it gently with a Q-tip and some baby oil, only on it's butt. Many hours later, the other 2 are fluffed and this one still looks a bit wet. I don't think I got oil everywhere, but I must have. Do I need to remove it, and if so, what do I use? Or can I leave it alone?

If it bothers you you can use warm water to clean the chick up, but you don't want it to get chilled so you'll probably need to blow dry it when you're done. Otherwise it will resolve itself as the chick grows and starts losing its fluff. It sounds like it got a bit shrink wrapped while trying to hatch--the membrane can be a real bear to get off of them so unless it's interfearing with the chicks ability to move around or it really, really bothers you I'd just wait it out.
