Chick not growing

That is so interesting, Ethans feathers grow weird too! She looked so funny with a big body and little tiny wings for a while there!
View attachment 1289308 We have one like that too! It's our lavender orpington chick "he" is 1/3rd of the size of the others all hatched on the same day. But he is thriving, eating, drinking, running around. We think he has something called "retarded feather growth" because his wings are growing in strange. They say it corrects itself by weeks 8-12 so we shall see. Here he is next to one of our EEs around 3 weeks old.

You don’t need grit until u get to corn.
Oh they sell it but chicks will also get impacted crops.

I would remove it. I also believe she may have been injured by a premature egg opening. Not cool. If this was my chick I would set up my incubator which is one of the styrofoam for my hatcher. Big and easy. Put temp at what is required for her age and place food and water. I also use an aquarium pump which hangs inside a little in one of the red cap holes. I have a still air.

So now its back in ICU. Place a clean, dry cloth to replace the body of a chick and see if exhaustion is why it won’t lay down and/or fear of being trampled. I use that soft shelf liner for the floor. Then start on some crumble that is moistened just enough to get rid of dust and place inside a lid of some type and give it a few days to recover.
