Hello. What is it called when a new chick is not standing due to a fat bottom and what is it caused by. I have a chick that seems to have ok legs but it is butt heavy and cannot seem to stand upright yet. It hatched today earlier. It is a bantam golden campine. Seems to me that it hatched rather quick and hatched upside down. It self corrects if I recall right? I cannot find on the forum where I saw it. Legs are not splayed.

hm it is not lethargic or anything and not really the bottom is fat just it seems too big for the chick and it does not stand upright.

Actually could be spraddle leg but it hatched one time. Hm.

looks like it is able to stand more upright now and getting its feet underneath it. It was like its fat bottom from the egg yolk absorbing was weighing down its back end. Now that is is more absorbed the chick is having an easier time getting on its feet. I will leave it in the brooder longer unitl it has its feet better.
