it is more likely deadly but maybe not. I would leave the chick alone and change brooder temp and see how it goes. if it dies you can always blame kiki

If it did indeed inhale water there's nothing that can be done but wait ans hope.

I got two new chicks today. One of them keeps opening and closing it’s mouth, almost like it’s breathing through that instead of it’s nose. It’s definitely not panting. Any ideas as to why?

Update: she is still doing it, but not opening her mouth as wide and less frequent. Hopefully a good sign!

UPDATE 2: she’s not eating or drinking and will stand in place unless her sister bumps into her. Not looking too good for her
UPDATE 3: Shes starting to mill about a little more, and has started eating and drinking in little bits. The mouth thing is off and on, mainly off. Hopefully a better sign

Update 4: shes now not doing the mouth thing at all, and is eating drinking and running around just as much as her sister. I think she’s recovering!

seems aart was correct and it resolved its self.
