So I got 6 babies from a feed store awhile back. Ended up with one barred rock roo that I was able to re-home. Now I've got a 5-6 week old olive egger that is starting to look like a roo Curious what y'all think. He's very skittish. Not at all friendly and outgoing like the barred rock was. But the comb looks floppy as opposed to straight like my others.

Oooo, this looks like a roo, but could still be a girl. I’m going to include pictures of my Eddie and Zinnia (Olive Egger siblings) when they were 5 weeks. Eddie was always standoffish but would still sit on my legs or lap. He started crowing at 5 weeks, too . He developed quickly, though. Since the comb on yours isn’t totally red yet, there’s hope.

Not normally. Barred rock are not normally used for Olive Egger mixes could be cuckoo Marans instead, this is often used. Another possibility is crested cream leg bar would give barring like this. To create olive Eggers, normally a dark egg laying breed is crossed with a blue egg laying breed. But the different hatcheries have their own “recipes“.
Technically an Olive Egger is an under type of an Easter Egger.
