The three turkeys are bb bronze. I plan to butcher one for graduation!!!

lol, I got them just for fun to see if I liked having them around.

We had bbb and bbw turkeys last year, had them almost ready for processing when something ran off with every stinkin' one of them. That's what I get for not keeping them in a pen. The whites were a lot friendlier than the bronze.

I ordered 30 pullets a week or so ago from Cackle Hatchery. They hatch on April 2 and should arrive here on April 4.

I'm planning on building a 4'x8' brooder dividable in the middle to house them in until I get their 15'x12' coop finished with a 40-50'x15' run.

I'm not sure my wife fully comprehended what getting into chickens was going to entail...

I ordered 26, but I have 27 chicks here. I got an extra buff orp.

2 buff brahmas
3 barred rocks

All are doing great. The 2 buff brahmas were a little quiet to start with, but they have come around great. Amazing how they can survive a trip like that. I know I couldnt.

WooHOO ~Sounds like alot of us will be getting them around the 19th. I asked them about it being a holiday weekend, and they said they may possibly ship earlier in the week! Be prepared!

How can they ship them early? Can they make them hatch earlier? Don't they ship them the day they hatch? I'm a total newbie, but I assumed the hatcheries had the whole hatching date thing down to a science and knew in xx days these chicks would hatch and that is how they figure the ship days. I'm all for if they can come earlier in the week though! Were they more specific about which day earlier in the week?
