Chick pipped incubator off over 2 hours and open

I turned off incubator for non hatched eggs to cool and left it open. Couple hours later I went to take eggs out it’s day 26 and noticed egg had quarter of egg pipped. I quickly put incubator back on will it be ok?

I have had staggered hatches as well. I will candle them these days before I trash them. A while back when I threw away some and my trash can wash chirping a day later. It never unzipped when a I placed it back under heat. You might have better results.

Thank you. I candled but no movement they are Silkies.

I hatch a lot of silkies and the longest any of them have ever gone was Day 24, twice. Once, no idea why, and the second time it had its air cell on the side and I should have helped it sooner.

To go 26 days, this is making me think it pipped a few days earlier and stopped and you couldn't see it. It may have died on that day.

I will never give up though and I'd leave that lid on for another 12 hours or a day and check again.

Thank you. I keep checking but no change yet. I inspected the eggs before I turned it off I never saw anything so maybe it hadn’t started? This is only my 5th hatch so still quite anxious.

Had all your other ones hatched in 21 days though?

No worries. It gets easier on the nerves as you keep incubating, but I can tell you the excitement of it never ends.

If it was only off a couple of hours, the chick should be fine. You may have to check to make sure it is not shrink wrapped from the incubator being left open.
