Hello, I know I've read about this before on here, but I did a search and can't find any articles or posts. Anyone have any advice for helping a chick who pipped on the small end of the egg? I saw the pip on Friday night. Now, Sunday morning, I tried to help it a bit, but saw a drop of blood. So I stopped. I gently tried to "zip" around the shell to help little fella out, but I think that might have dried out the membrane. I'm usually pretty hands-off when it comes to hatching, but this seemed like an honest mistake, probably not a genetic deficiency. So has anyone out there ever helped one of these lopsided fellas successfully? Thanks!

Put coconut oil on the membrane that's dried up. I would assist it more if it's been 48+ hours.. I had one that was on the wrong end with no pip at 48 hours after 21 days I opened the egg, it was alive but barely. I was doing egg-topsies to learn what happened to each chick to better my next hatch. I gave the chick electrolytes (Pedialyte) with a dropper and left it in the bator for 12 hours.

I had a little blood not much when I helped. If you have cornstarch that will stop the bleeding.

What day are you on 21 or 23 (48 hours after day 21)?
