Chick pipped wrong end, Broody hen broke air cell open!

I'm sure cleaning it first would be the best way to go about it. I did think about one of the plastic easter eggs we had around the house but quickly realized there's little holes in the ones we had and it wouldn't hold the moisture in like I was trying to do.

**UPDATE** Last night It took me about 30minutes to get him out, I was very careful chipping away. slowly made the pip hole larger and peeled back the top membrane and actually just stretched the inner membrane until he could get out.

He was actually quite LARGE compared to the others

I gave him back to mama hen once he was out. She quickly tucked him under her and this morning...he's fluffed out and looks great!

His/her name is 'FLUKE' a Blue Splash Marans x Silver Phoenix

Well done for persevering. It is a very hard call whether we help them out or not. I have three chicks about to hatch under a broody. Last year I managed to save a pekin called Butterscotch out of her egg as she was 20 hours with no progress after pipping. I do not regret my decision at all🐣🌸
