Chick poo In incubator + Assisted chick not fluffing out.

I know this an old thread, but I have a question. How long after a chick hatches, will it poop?
It really depends on the chick. Some have pooped in their shell before finishing hatch.

But I think all should be putting out some poo the end of the first day if their digestive system is working correctly since the yolk is the first thing they digest and pass even before starting to eat.

I never imagined I would celebrate poo. :sick But since hatching.. it's one of the success markers that I monitor closely. Usually if they aren't pooping they also won't be eating much and tend to be doing a lot of loud peeping.

Hope all is well! :fl

Hatch at 5:34am today. It's a cross between a Buff Orpington/Barred Rock, & a Buff Orpington Australorp.

So, you're saying it should poop tomorrow?
My goodness, it sure looks like a perfect cutie! :love

Yes I think it should have passed some waste by today... but I am certainly not an expert. Heck that chick even looks bearded to me. But it should not be according to your suggested cross.

Has the chick gained it's land legs and starting to peck at food and drink? Any more hatch with him? Did it hatch on the correct day? :pop

It started eating as soon as it fluffed up, and it pooped last night. Which is a good sign.

Wanna join my thread? I'm doing a guessing game thing. I know you already know my chick's crossbreed. We can share our types of chickens, it doesn't matter really.
