Chick poo?

5 of them are acting just fine and normal sleeping and then up and crazy and eating and then sleeping, but the americana’s are just sleeping and cheeping. I got them to drink a bit more Gatorade/water.
I’m just worried as the one black sex link already passed after we had had it just an hour. They were hatched yesterday 8-12-09 it says 10AM so that mean the one that passed just barely made it a day, because we pick them up at the post office at 9am 8-13-09.
The 5 that are acting normal are very cute and the barred rock seem to like to try and jump on the others, so the BO, barred rock and one sex link are loving each other and playing.
Do you think maybe the Americana are just tire from the trip here and still aren’t hungry?
They both pooped on me and the one(liter colored one) was hardly a poo, and the darker one had the red orange in it but was a bigger poo

Shipping stress can be pretty hard on them. I'm glad you have a bit of Gatorade in the water; that's perfect. I don't know what is going on, I think we can only hope they will regain some strength and come around for you.

I had a disastrous shipment last Feb. Of 51, 16 arrived dead, and several more died in the next day or two. Yet maybe half of them seemed healthy and active from the moment I opened the box. It was a few days before everyone got healthy looking. So they do vary in how they deal with it.

They definitely learn from each other. And I'm sure you are right, the more active ones are quite happy; hopefully, they all are.

I couldn't get my chicks to eat plain yogurt but when I mixed some with their crumbles they devoured it. You may not have any problems.

Yes, 1 tsp per chick is plenty. They can't really digest milk products very well, so all you are doing is introducing the beneficial bacteria. cmom is right, they may not go for it, but are more likely to do so if mixed with a bit of feed. The yolk of a hard boiled egg, or a bit of applesauce, also usually work well.

Ok well they didn’t totally go for the yogurt, but the 2 that are sleepier I managed to open their beak a bit and get some yogurt food piece in not much at all, but I also tried with my more frisky chicks and wow it was much harder with them, just wanted to see and wanted them to try a tiny spot of the yogurt.
Now they are all turned in for the night it looks

They kind of keep rotating around is that normal is it to regulate how warm they are?

Yes, quite normal for them to move around. That's why a brooder needs to be big enough for them to decide how warm they want to be, IMHO. Even if they actually all hatched at the same time, which I doubt, they are individuals, and will have slightly different needs. You are dong exactly the right thing if they can move around a bit and choose the temp they prefer.

When I brooded what was left of that batch of 50 chicks, plus a bunch of replacements I bought from the feed store that were about the same age, my brooder was maybe 16 or 18 square feet. It was an "L" shape, constucted of cardboard pieces from a furniture store and duct tape, set up in a spare bedroom. I purposely put the heat lamp on one end. They slept all over that brooder, from day one. Some of them obviously preferred the cooler areas, and some the warmer ones. There was a group that stayed around the corner of the "L," where the temp had to be no more than the room temp was, maybe 80 degrees. It was really quite an education for me. I will provide the 90 degrees for those who want it, but will also give them space to be cooler, from now on.

Ok well they survived the night, but the 2 americana are still very sad looking so, what should i do try to really force feed, if so how do i do that?
