chick question regarding sex and leg position

ok...we bought some chicks tonight..6 are already sexed but my husband got 4 more that werent..he said that he was told that if they hold their legs close to their bodies, they are girls, stretched out, boys.
is there any truth to this? i can recall an older guy telling me this once but i didnt take much stock in it.

oh well, they are very pretty chicks, at least

they look like easter egg chicks but their fluff is a weird blue grey color.
cant wait til the camera is charged!

You know, I actually tried this with ones that I knew were pullets and some of my banties that were definitely roos. It appears to work about 60% of the time in my experience, some overly hyper or relaxed birds just completely flopped out in my lap or were too worried to relax their leggies.

Best way to tell though is to just wait a good few months, when they feather out some sex differences can become very apparent.

nope but its ok...if they are boys, i am only out a buck each for them. we got 6 banded ones that are definitely girls..and of course they all held their legs close while some of the straight run chicks didnt. oh well, my husband is happy so im happy.
