chick question

So sorry for your loss. I do not think you did anything wrong she just was not strong enough it happens. When you raise chicks that's the risk. I bought turkeys so far for no reason I've lost 2 they just were dead. Coming to the board and posting for info is a good thing to do most vets know little about birds this is the best and fastest place to get info from I think.

thanks all.... I just feel so bad for her - I thought she was trying to peep but didn't have her voice, and she was gasping for air. She had been fine and eating , I never suspected she was sick, just small.

Buff Orps were the 1 breed I started out wanting (before I ended up with 15 chicks!).... so now I only have 1. I may go see if the feedstore still has some, and I will make sure it is normal size before they put it in the box!!

Sorry for your loss

It's never easy when they die. We tend to blame ourselves for not doing something to prevent it. But it really all comes down to "survival of the fittest" and there probably wasn't anything you could have done.

I'm so sorry she's gone. You put your heart and soul into the sick little ones. When they don't pull through it can be heartbreaking.
