I went to move the eggs off the turner this morning and found a egg with a beak coming out (9a and 5 days early).. So I pulled all the other eggs off the turner and watched and waited. Well, another chick hatched, and this one still is in it's shell (9p). So how longshould I wait before I really worry? I can see it breathing in there and still hear cheeps. But I'm a bit worried that it might not make it out. But I will not help it, unless I'm told different.

Any who, what do you think?
This is only my 3rd hatch so I'm still new at this..

Help please, even if it's just a few words of wisdom.

Since its early still, I'd wait. Sometimes they pip but need a good bit more time to absorb the yolk sac and zip out. I would wait until tomorrow morning until helping.

If it has been at least 24 hrs. since it pipped. I would begin at the beak and slowly peel the shell away. Watch for any blood veins. You might find the chick has been shrinkwrapped and cannot break free. I use warm water and a syringe to wet the membrane and peel it away, again watching blood veins. If you run into any, put the egg back in the bator and let in go for a couple of hours and then begin again. Good luck.

Thanks,

Right now the other chick that hatched is over there as if to say, "Get your tail out of that egg. I need a buddy to play with."

sometimes it takes over 24 hours, so that is the minimum I would give before I do anything...

So I did help the 1st chick a bit (just opened the shell up enough so it could get out on it's own.. It was a Huge chick.. Than Sunday I had another chick do the same thing (It was alos big).
So far out of 30 eggs in the bator, 25 have hatched (Hatch date is today). We have one chick that I'm a bit worried about, as it still seems week and has goop all over it, but dry.

I had 7 hatch from Wednesday-Friday, and moved them to the brooder on Saturday.. Had 15 hatch on Saturday-Sunday,moved them later Sunday night, and had 3 more hatch over night, but one did make it(they're still in the bator, will be moved this evening).
Other than that, every one is eating well and enjoying the brooder box, aka the bath tub.

I just posted on this same subject, so hard to know what to do. Mine was really shrink wrapped, it had been over 48 hours since he made the little hole, so I helped him all the way out. He seems pretty weak and no way was going to get out on his own so we'll see what happens.

Mine was too. But I left them in the bator to get good and dry and in about 24 hours it was like nothing had happened. The one weak chick and the one that has already passed away both hatched on their own, go figure..
