Yesterday I noticed one of our two week old chicks from Cackle is breathing harder/faster than the rest. She’s also making little sneezing noises and shaking her head. From reading articles, I’m guessing it’s either dust or a respiratory illness. Any thoughts?

Of course! 😊

Heat plate coming next week. This set up makes me way too nervous.

I have a video of her sneezing but I’m not sure how to post it.

She’s starting to breathe with her mouth open sometimes.

Aren't they just adorable :love

For video, upload to youtube and provide a link. The BYC upload does not work.

Sometimes chicks do snick occasionally, all that chick dust. Watch to see if she's sneezing during/after and activity as well - like eating/drinking (food/water in the nostrils).

Thank you! I’m keeping a close eye on her. Honestly I wasn’t prepared to be so attached to the little peepers.

How hot is it in the brooder?

She is sneezing frequently isn't she. May be a little too warm, hard to know.
Thank you. Yes she sneezes often. Seems to slow down with the sneezes when she sleeps. But that’s when you can see her breathing harder than the rest. The temp is about 90 in the warmest spot in the brooder with lots of cooler areas. All chicks seem comfy with temps having active times and sleepy times.
