Chick Start smells rancid

I have never used Manna Pro Organic Chick Start before. I bought a bag to try and when I got home and opened it, it smells like it is rancid. Is that even possible? Is it just something in the mix? The other bag of regular Manna Pro chick start smelled nice, sweet and malty like grains should. The manufacture date is 01/24/14 that's more than a year ago!!
I am thinking I should return it. What do you all think??

Answered my own question. It's not supposed to smell that bad. It's worse than I thought. Blech.
