Chick stuck in egg, help!

I went to check and there had been no change but when I picked it up, the chick sounded very weak. I took it to the sink and slowly, gently peeled the shell off. I found something that looked like suds in the bottom of the shell. I know darn well that chick could not have moved it's legs big enough or fast enough to stir up suds so I don't know what happened in there. The baby had pooped and I thought that it still had it's yolk attached but it was just some kind of light green slime. Some of the shell is still stuck to the baby but I didn't want to risk more and I thought it should do some work straightening itself out so I wrapped it in a dry paper towel and put it back in the incubator. I checked the other baby and it had the top of the egg pretty loose so I lifted it out of the way. Now to see how they do.

All the other babies are watching and wondering what's going on. LOL I'm just glad that they are ok.

I would wrap them in warm damp paper towel the dry one may be taking more moisture out of the eggs. It does seem very strange that just these two have done this if you have chicks that have already hatched ok? Maybe it's just something to do with these particular eggs maybe their shell quality or the breed if they are different from your other eggs? Pleased to hear your others doing ok. I'm afraid not all incubation goes to plan and these things are sent to try us for what ever reason. I often think it's natures way of weeding out the sick and weak. If things don't go to plan (I hope it does) you can be safe in the knowledge that you have done all you can to help them :caf it's bed time here now so will be back on in a few hours keep us posted though on how you get on :hugs

The dry paper towel was because I had the baby under the warm running water. I didn't want it to get more chilled than it had to. As it turns out, the paper towel stuck to the baby where some of the shell didn't come off. I gently pulled it off and the baby seems ok for now.

Oh, yes, with these 2 I have about 26 babies. Maybe a couple more, I lost count when I got distracted. All the others hatched on their own.

No, they never got all the way out of the eggs. The one with the suds in the shell with it is not doing very well. I put it back in the incubator and it looks better but when I pick it up it's feet are still up by it's ears. Yesterday when I first got it out of it's shell it's legs seemed to work ok for a newborn but as the evening went on and then today, it sits on it's belly and if one of the other chicks knock it over, it just lays on it's back. Doesn't even holler after the initial knock over. That is why I put it back in the incubator. I still have guinea eggs and some chicken eggs I put on a week late so they would hatch with the guineas.
