I have the cutest little yellow chick that hatched 2 days ago. There is something wrong with him though as he cannot stand. It is like his head is frozen in a weird thrown back position. Have you heard of this? Will he get better or am I going to have to make the hard decision about him?

I have kept him in the incubator because he can't function outside of it yet. He is very robust and I have been giving him beak dips. Last night he fell asleep in his food dish. I don't know if he ate any.

I will post a pic tonight. But right now just picture a cute little yellow chick on his side peeping and kicking. If he is against the side of the bator, he can scoot around.

ok... I think one wing is smaller than the other. He cannot stand at all. Could it be because of his wing? I will take a pic when my husband gets home. He is the cutest chick and I just don't want him to suffer. But I have no idea how to put him out of his misery.

I had another chick born thats feet won't uncurl. He gets around ok.

This is my first time hatching eggs. Is it common to get deformed chicks???

Could it be wry neck?

I think if you are getting deformed chicks then you have temp/humidity problems in your bator...not sure though...I have lots of problems with my bator and have good to great outcomes.....IDK..

I have the exact same thing happening right now. I let my broody hatch and found two chicks this morning. She wasn't making an effort to keep them warm and one had died, so I took the other away from her. It's under a lamp now but doing the exact same thing you mention. It also looks like one wing is short when it lays on its back/side but I think it's just the way he's holding one in or something. I don't know. Have you got any answers yet? How is the chick doing?

My husband put the chick with the wry neck out of its misery. It was really suffering. I have another chick that had spraddle leg and feet that were curled up. I have been treating him/her and it is doing very well.
