I have this silkie chick that was born June 28.

It was normal for the first few days and then noticed it had pasty bum. I took care of it and it has survived but never grew. It is still so small compared to its sibling.

Is there a reason for this? Is it going to eventually catch up or will it be a sad ending?

i had this issue!!! i gave him everything i could think of!! Its fifty fifty! but heres what I did

- washing booty everyday and checking every few hours with a q tip. I used vassiline to kinda give the bum some lubricant so there was less irritation.
- a bunch of save a chick. Electrolytes.
- i fed him raw egg, and cooked egg and softened all feed. I removed any and all Scratch/grit
- Some days when he was more droopy id take him out and sit with him closer to the heat lamp, would assist with water by syringe. (there's tons of info on the site about how to do this right)

have some faith, and keep trying to take care of him. My Guy caught up after a few months

Just in case coccidiosis could be an issue, you could treat with some Corid liquid 2 tsp per gallon of water for 5 days. In addition, give 1/4 tsp of undiluted Corid to the little one once a day for boost. Shipping stress and pasty butt can really weaken a chick, and it is hard to know if she has an underlying issue. I really hope that little peewee catches up.

ive read to make sure to only give corid alone, and then to the save a chick vitamins later as they have vitamin b, and could make it worse if they have Coccidia
