I am heartbroken! One of my 5 day old pullets became trapped INSIDE of the
long (28 opening) feeder this morning. She was fine when I left to take our
daughter to school and 1.5 hours later was gone. It looked like she got hung
up in one of the openings and wriggled her way face down in the crumble. I
shudder to think of the rest! I may have 20 chicks in there but until they are bigger
I have changed the feeder to the smaller round one, albeit with fewer openings.
I will have to diligently check to ensure that is stays full of crumble as the girls have
quite the appetite. I thought I'd share for all of us newbies out there - the road
of hard knocks stinks!

Poor little one - crummy day for the babes in the brooder...

I am so sorry. How horrible. Thanks for the info. Sorry to get it this way. Once again I am so sorry. Oh welcome to BYC. Sorry it is under these circumstances

Im sorry to hear that. I lost one a month back 5 days old, manage to get out of the cage and froze to death. I was horrified. Its not easy to lose any of them, but it sure seems worse when they are babies.

So sad. I'm so sorry.

But you did good by letting us know. I'd been considering one of those feeders. Now I will look at another option.
