who wants to know?
Does anyone out there know of any yummyical little treats that chicks would enjoy? If so, please do tell, and i will be forever thankful :]

I started giving my 3 wk olds grit and small mealworms from Petsmart. They LOVED them and LOVED me for giving them. They then started flying out of the brooder when I would take the top off on to my lap, shoulder, back if I was bending over to add food or water.

When the worms were gone (I only gave 1-2 each per day to start), I made scrambled eggs and chopped really little the size of mealworms and they LOVED that as well.

I then would put in a chunk of sod for them to scratch during the day. They didn't know what to do the first day but the next day all the grass was gone by the end of the day.

Do give your chicks something to do so they don't get bored and start pecking each other.

Good luck with your little ones.

haven't given them watermelon yet but they love cantaloupe so I am sure they will

My chicks love watermelon, squash, cantalope, cucumbers, anything with seeds. Their favorite is tomatoes!!

I cut it up into little bites for them and I USED to feed them out of my hand, until they started grabbing the tomatoes so hard they pinched me also.

Our girls are 6 wks old. We started them on the tiny crickets at 5 days ONLY because we caught them hunting down AND eating mesquito flys in their brooder. They went nuts over the crickets, we also sifted grit to ensure they only got the sand that was the size of salt. They LOVE watermelon, clipped grass, small meal worms, ground oatmeal, plain yogurt, strawberries, fresh spinach.
We took care to only introduce new treats slowly. Do lots of reading.
