chick trying to get out...!2chicks

Today is day 22!

I have one egg chick trying to get out all day!!

chick has 2 holes in egg since noon!

I am starting to get concern!

I have been reading simular post shouls I be help chick out ((I thought this is the worst thing to do?))

How many hours has it pipped, let it go for at least 24 hours before trying to help. Temps may have been low where that egg sat, so it is just behind schedule.

Maybe peel back a small piece of shell?

Chicks pip and then rest for hours and hours, like Silkie says up to 24 hrs and longer before they make a large zip and are out .....I would not open the bator.....when you are opening the bator you are letting the humidity out and thats what keeps the shells from drying out...

It's not the worst thing to do, but timing is everything. Like silkiechicken said, you should give it 24 hours to get out. i have helped too soon and nearly killed the poor thing.

We were at homeschool co-op today just got home to 6!
