Chick w/ unabsorbed egg sac??

I'm sorry! But i agree that it would be kindest to put him down.

We did end the life of that chick, but there is another one that seems to have just an unabsorbed yolk. Is it possible that he will live? Some sites I read said that if you just clean them off a bit and put them on a sanitary towel or something they might eventually absorb it. Is this true?

Is this caused by the fact that we did not turn them enough before incubation? We were given the eggs and waited at least a day before putting them under the hens -- we did not use incubators.

Thank you all for your help!

pips&peeps :

Usually if you get more than one hatching with navel issues, the humidity is too high or the temperature is too high in the incubator.

We did not use an incubator. They were put underneath broody hens.
