I was reading the tread from 2010 about the same subject. I have 8 baby chicks, 2 weeks old. I picked them up at the hatchery at 1 day old and I noticed the Columbian Wyandotte had poo stuck to her down after a couple days. I soaked her vent in warm water along with the Speckled Sussex who had the same problem. The Sussex is just fine now, but the Wyandotte is worse. Her vent is swollen and it pulses and looks very irritated. About every other day I have to soak her bottom. She seems to be just as active and growing like the others. I have watched her and she does poop. I guess its her breed but, she doesn't have tail feathers like the others so her problem is displayed.
What happened to the chick from 2010? Did it grow up alright? My husband worries we might lose her. I hope not. I feel like I haven't had a good night's sleep since we got these chicks. I'm so worried about losing one of them.
