I am not sure what is going on. This is the only chick showing beak issues. Its my RIR bantam.

I don't think this was there when he arrived from McMurray. His appetite and drinking and pooping are all normal. He is feathering out as fast as the other bantams.

Vitamin D or calcium problems? Maybe an injury? There is a small dip where the beak joins the nostril area. I see a small amount of peeling too.

The first photo makes it look worse than it is.

I am feeding Dumor 20% Chick Starter and Grower (Non-medicated)

Thisis my favorite chick out of the 27 we have left and I don't want to lose him.

Thanks guys!!

They have spent the past two days outside. Do you think this will help the problem? He is still acting fine and robust.

Ok, not an expert here, but it looks like something that may grow out fine. As long as it can eat and drink, I would think that it will be OK. Good luck!

I agree. We've had cracks and chips and all have grown out better than I expected. I would just check now and then to make sure there are no edges that might catch on anything and tear.

Thank you guys. That takes a load off mind mind.

I couldn't believe I got such a pretty chick from hatchery, lol. And so sweet too!! His feathers are nearly as dark as his down.
