Hello, I've tried looking for info here and everywhere, but I'm having no luck on finding treatment ideas for my chick. She is two weeks old, a blue ameracuana and aside from her one bulging eye, she seems completely fine. She is eating and drinking normally and zooming around the brooder with the other chicks.

There is no discharge from her eye, no signs of infection, but one eye is definitely bulging out. I just noticed it last night, so today would be the 2nd day. I've put vetericyn opthalmic gel in her eye twice now, but I don't know if this is the right thing to do. I've chickens with eye infections before and the gel has always worked, but this doesn't look like a typical infection. I've included pictures. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it . t

This can be a common defect. For now just watch it. Eye drops or eye ointment may be helpful to prevent it from drying out. There are some threads about chicks being hatched with one or both eyes that bulge out. Some of those may become sunken, and the eye may be blind. I hope that it doesn’t happen to your chick, but it could.

Thanks- I'm going out to get terramycin eye ointment today and some eyewash. Hopefully this will help.
