I have a chick that was born with a small bubble where his neck and shoulder met. As he grows, the bubble grows. It is without any feathers, kind of clear, you can see "stuff" inside. About the size of a grape now. He is otherwise fine, eats, drinks, keeps up with the others. What do you think?

I would separate him in case there is an infection growing under the skin. If you are up to it you can clean the skin and then gently lance it. Clean the area again and then put neosporin ( without pain killer) on it and see what happens.

Oh, oh oh. Really? Like cut him? I have syringes with very small needles for b12 injections, should I try drawing it out? They are clean and sterile. Would that be better?

No don't cut him. Clean the area with an antiseptic and use a clean sterilized needle to make a single tiny hole. Like popping a blister. You want to remove the fluid but leave the skin intact to protect the area. If you have a syringe with a needle I guess you could try to aspirate the fluid and then clean the wound and put neosporin on it.

I had one chick hatch with the same kind of spot and same place. but mine died after 2 days. sorry i couldn't help. I kept him seperate so it didn't have achance to spread if it was contagious.

What would happen if I just leave it? Could it disappear on its own? I don't think I need to separate him..... it is not weepy or anything. He is fine otherwise, infact I have a hard time picking him out from the others.

Does it look like an air bubble? Could be a ruptured air sac. That is the only thing I can think of with that symptom.

I have one chick with this right now. It hatched today. I tried the sterile-needle puncture thing....two punctures later, poor baby, and nothing came out. I decided to stop torturing it. It seems more or less all right otherwise.

I have a 2wk old barred rock that I just found a nickle sized bubble on its upper wing/shoulder. Seems to be air filled & didnt bother her when I pressed on it. Eating, drinking, behaving fine. Should I just keep an eye on her? I have another chick w no upper wing feathers. Is this normal? I have 9 older chicks that never had a prob.
